Oleg Blokhin. Delusions of well-deserved grandeur. Biography of Oleg Blokhin. Footballer and coach Oleg Vladimirovich Blokhin Oleg Blokhin family

One of the most recognizable football players of the USSR, who after finishing his football career became the coach of the Ukrainian national team.

early years

In 1952, on November 5, Oleg Blokhin was born. As soon as the boy learned to walk, he chose a ball as his favorite toy. The parents were very happy that their son spent his free time playing football, but Oleg’s mother until the very end cherished the hope that her son would follow in her footsteps and become involved in athletics. Her wish did not come true, and Blokhin clearly set himself the goal of becoming the best football player. After graduating from school, he entered the National University of Physical Culture, after which he applied to the Faculty of International Relations at the T. Shevchenko University, but after the fourth year he abandoned his education.

Footballer's career

While still at school, the young football player became part of the Dynamo school team, and after graduating from university he managed to get into its main team. In 1972, the football player participated for the first time in the USSR Championship, where his team won with a score of 2:1. In 1975, Dynamo won the Cup Winners' Cup, he became the first representative of USSR football who was able to win the title of the most effective player of the national team for three years in a row. Blokhin became the owner of a record number of matches played and goals scored. After Oleg Vladimirovich completed his career as a football player, he began active coaching.

Beginning of a coaching career

The first club with which he began cooperation was the Greek national team. In 2003, he was offered the position of head coach of the Ukrainian national team. Under his clear leadership, the team trained for three years and in 2006 for the first time was able to advance beyond the qualifying competitions for the World Cup in Germany. Blokhin was able to bring his team to the quarterfinals of the championship, which became a record for Ukraine. However, not everything went smoothly; the press constantly pointed out the coach’s lack of experience and too insignificant merits, for which reason he submitted a resignation letter in 2007, which was accepted at a meeting of the Football Federation Council. Immediately after his dismissal, he became the coach of the Moscow team, which was preparing to take part in the 2008 Russian Championship. Preparation time was limited and all the team could achieve was ninth place. This result did not suit the club management, and they fired Blokhin as coach. After such an unsuccessful experience, no one wanted to hire a coach and he had to work as the director of the Chernomorets team until 2010 and practically not participate in training.

Coach of Dynamo Kyiv

In 2011, he was again invited to the Ukrainian national team, this time to the position of director. The amount that he was offered as salary per month was 50 thousand dollars, which became a record amount for the national team coach. In 2012, the head coach of the Ukrainian team, Yuri Semin, resigned. For Blokhin, this was an excellent chance to try himself as a coach of Dynamo Kyiv. Blokhin's first game as a coach was the Ukrainian Championship in which Dynamo faced Zorya. The game went well for Dynamo, they won 1:0, which was a good start for Blokhin’s coaching career. A month after this match, the coach experienced a hypertensive crisis, which arose due to a blood clot in the carotid artery. After the operation, Blokhin temporarily left his duties as coach of the national team, and Andrei Bal came to his place. Despite the fact that Oleg Vladimirovich did not participate in the training process, he came to the club every day and watched his players. Under the tutelage of the new coach, the team lost almost all the points they earned in the matches with Moldova. The results upset the club's management, and they replaced the head coach with Alexei Mikhailichenko, but he also failed to correct the situation. During his coaching, the team lost in the Champions League and lost huge amounts of points in smaller competitions.

Recent years of activity

In November 2012, Blokhin talked with the players about strategy, and they performed well against Tavriya, playing 1:0. At the match with PSG, Blokhin took his place on the coaches' bench and although he returned, Dynamo lost. This was the first time in the history of Blokhin’s entire coaching career when his students were unable to win at least second place. After this, a series of failures began; the club could not win a single match. Moreover, as coach Oleg Vladimirovich, he managed to set two anti-records that knocked Dynamo out of the list of the best teams. The press began to constantly make fun of Oleg Vladimirovich that he was setting records in the wrong order and how soon he would resign as coach. I didn't have to wait long for an answer to these jokes. In 2014, a match between Shakhtar and Dynamo took place, in which the Kiev club traditionally lost. This figure was the last drop in the sea of patience of Dynamo management, and the coach was fired from his post without the right to reinstatement. Now Oleg Blokhin appears at matches of the Ukrainian national team only as a spectator and spends most of his leisure time trying to build his political career.

  • From his first marriage, the coach of the Ukrainian national team has a daughter, Ira. For a long time the girl lived with her dad in Greece, then for a very short time in Ukraine, then went to America. Where exactly she is now and what she is doing is not known, it seems, even to Blokhin himself. He repeatedly said that he sees and calls her extremely rarely. And evil tongues even said that when a completely grown-up daughter came to congratulate her dad on his birthday, he did not recognize her right away. However, Oleg Vladimirovich denies such facts, although he does not hide the fact that he cannot keep track of his daughter - she either practices singing, dances, writes music and poetry, or is about to get married.
  • For the victory in the 1975 Cup Winners' Cup over the Hungarian Ferencvaros, Blokhin and his partners received $800 each, and after the 1986 triumph in the match with the Spanish Atlético - only half a thousand.
  • The song “Vivat, King!” by Yuri Rybchinsky and Gennady Tatarchenko, which was written specifically for Blokhin’s farewell match in 1989, is dedicated to Oleg Blokhin. Performer: Tamara Gverdtsiteli.
  • When Blokhin was the coach of Ionikos, the Greek newspaper Sport Time launched a rumor about an attack on Blokhin by fans. "Lies! - the mentor himself responded. “The author of this note is now afraid to leave the house because fans will throw rotten oranges at him.”

Awards:

  • Order of the UOC of St. Nestor the Chronicler (2002).
  • Order of Merit, III (2002), II (2004) and I (2011) degrees.
  • Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, V degree (2006).
  • Greek Cup winner (1992)

We can talk about Oleg Vladimirovich Blokhin endlessly; we can list his services to Soviet and Ukrainian football even longer. A legendary man, a professional, a maestro - perhaps even such words will not be enough to tell about an outstanding football player and coach.

Biography facts

In November 1952, a boy named Oleg Blokhin was born into the family of an officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and a teacher at the Kyiv University of Civil Engineering. His biography began in the city of Kyiv, where the young football player attended training sessions for the youth team of his dream club - Dynamo Kyiv.

A huge chapter in the life story of Oleg Vladimirovich and his family is connected with the capital of Ukraine. Oleg Blokhin's current wife, Angela, is raising two daughters with her husband - Anna and Ekaterina. The first wife of the famous football player was Irina Deryugina, no less famous in sports (rhythmic gymnastics). From this marriage the couple has a daughter, Irina.

Footballer's career

Oleg Blokhin spent almost twenty years as a player for Dynamo Kyiv. Only at the end of his career did he play for the Austrian Vorwärts and the Cypriot Aris.

The era of Blokhin saw glorious hours when the people of Kiev thundered across Europe, not recognizing authorities. Over 19 seasons, the attacking midfielder played more than four hundred matches for Dynamo and scored 215 goals. He played 116 matches for the USSR national team.

From the memories of his colleagues and sports experts, Oleg Blokhin is a universal football player, capable of sharpening and “exploding” in any position. The midfielder himself calls his favorite technique - a sharp jerk forward and a lightning-fast shot at goal.

Coaching work

Oleg Blokhin could easily be classified as a young coach. Already at the age of 38, he led one of the whales of Greek football - Olympiacos. The fact that a young specialist was entrusted with coaching a famous club by local standards arouses a certain interest. It is also noteworthy that Oleg Blokhin remained on the Iberian Peninsula for twelve long years.

In 2003, Oleg Blokhin faced a new challenge in his coaching career. The coach had the great honor of leading the Ukrainian national team. Oleg Vladimirovich could not refuse such an offer, and in many ways it was through his efforts that the Ukrainian squad got to the 2006 World Cup for the first time in its history. Blokhin's team was able not only to leave the group, but also got into the quarter of the tournament, defeating Switzerland in a penalty shootout.

Oleg Blokhin’s next arrival to the Ukrainian national team took place in 2011, but the specialist worked for only a year, eventually losing the coaching position to Nikolai Fomenko.

Our youth team

However, all the most interesting things for Blokhin (coach) were just beginning. In 2012, he received a long-awaited invitation from the team for which he supported from a very young age and defended its colors as a football player. Russian specialist Yuri Semin left Dynamo Kiev the day before. At that time, the team had already been losing in the championship to its eternal opponents from Donetsk for several seasons in a row, so they invited their own legend to raise the former reputation of the great Kyiv club.

It all started very well for Oleg Vladimirovich. On an emotional high, several important victories were won, but the white streak quickly gave way to black. The coach of the Kiev team had a hard time with the failures of his native team, so he ended up in a medical center for several months with a heart disease. Returning to the coaching bridge, Oleg Blokhin still emotionally led his players, but more and more often in post-match interviews he looked confused and could not explain the reasons for the Dynamo squad losing points again.

Do not count your chickens before they are hatched

In general, during a year and a half of work at Dynamo, Oleg Vladimirovich Blokhin managed to set several anti-records. Firstly, under the leadership of Oleg Blokhin in the 2012-2013 season, the people of Kiev for the first time in the years of independent Ukraine at the end of the championship took a place lower than second and did not even qualify for the Champions League. Secondly, Dynamo under Blokhin suffered a record number of defeats and achieved the lowest percentage of victories.

With his tenure as head coach of Dynamo Kyiv, Oleg Vladimirovich once again confirmed the theorem that a good football player is not always a good coach. There is no doubt that Blokhin belongs to the blue and white with all his heart, but this was not enough to achieve the result. In the spring of 2014, the management of Dynamo Kyiv dismissed the coach due to unsatisfactory results.

Awards and recognition

A separate book could be written about the awards and achievements of Oleg Vladimirovich Blokhin. At Dynamo Kiev, he became the champion of the USSR seven times and raised the country's Cup over his head six more times. Blokhin won the USSR Super Cup three times and the Cup Winners' Cup twice. He also has the UEFA Super Cup, won in 1975.

Among Blokhin's personal regalia (football player), one can highlight nine titles of the best football player of the USSR, the prestigious Golden Ball award received according to France Football magazine, the title of international master of sports of the USSR and a special prize for the fiftieth anniversary of UEFA - an award for the best football player of Ukraine, starting from 1954.

As a coach, Oleg Blokhin won the Greek Cup and Super Cup, and also became the silver medalist of the local championship. The most significant achievement on the international stage is the quarter-final of the 2006 World Cup. With Dynamo Kiev, Oleg Vladimirovich won bronze medals in the Ukrainian Championship, however, as mentioned above, taking into account the previous achievements of the blue and white, this can rather be considered an anti-success. The football player and coach also have several top-level state awards.

Another interesting fact. Many people know and love the song “Vivat, the King” by Georgian performer Tamara Gverdtsiteli, but not everyone knows that the composition was written specifically in honor of the legendary Blokhin and performed during his farewell match in 1989. Fans of Oleg Vladimirovich and Dynamo Kyiv can only echo the famous singer: “Vivat, king, vivat”!

Biography, life story of Oleg Blokhin

Carier start

Oleg Blokhin was born on November 5, 1952 in Kyiv. Unlike most of his peers, Oleg did not try many sports before settling on just one. Blokhin made his choice in favor of football in early childhood, although his mother, a well-known runner in the CCCP, really wanted her son to become a track and field athlete.
Oleg Blokhin was accepted into the Dynamo youth school (Kyiv), then into the second squad of the famous club. Very soon he took a strong place in the main team, with which he became a seven-time champion of the Soviet Union, and made a victory lap with his teammates 5 times after victories in the CCCP Cup.

At first, it seemed to young Oleg that his more experienced teammates interacted little and poorly with him. Therefore, he usually tried, as soon as he managed to take possession of the ball, to make solo runs, relying on his high speed. But when Blokhin found regular breathing and got rid of the unnecessary fuss typical of beginners, the partners realized that he was already almost an equal among them, the experienced ones. Therefore, they themselves began to look for him and find him in the most difficult situations.

In 1975, when Dynamo Kiev won the Cup Winners' Cup and the Super Cup, and Oleg Blokhin gained universal recognition, he was already known as a football player who defined team play. He confidently interacted with all partners, maneuvered along the front of the attack, resolutely entered into the fight when the ball was lost, turning out to be the organizer of many combinations.

Records and achievements

He owns all personal records in Soviet football. For example, he played 112 matches for the USSR national team (more than anyone) and scored 47 goals. He played in the USSR championships 432 times and scored 211 goals (these are two more all-Union records). In five cases (more often than others) he topped the list of scorers in the next USSR championship. 15 times (like no one else) he was named among the best players of the season, and in 13 (!) cases he was number one. Three times, as a result of a referendum of Soviet sports journalists organized by the weekly Football-Hockey, he was recognized as the best football player of the USSR (in 1973, 1974, 1975), Honored Master of Sports.

He becomes the owner of the Golden Ball, in other words, the first football player in Europe (according to a survey by the weekly France Football), and six years later, in the same survey of the leading sports publications of the Old World, he is in fifth place. Blokhin was twice a member of the International Football Federation (FIFA) team - in 1979 against the West German team Borussia Dortmund, and the following season against the Spanish Barcelona, played for the European Football Union (UEFA) team against the Czechoslovakian national team ( in 1981) and for Team Europe (in 1982) against Team Rest of the World. The name of Oleg Blokhin is forever inscribed in the history of European football, and in golden letters.

Awards

Order of the UOC of St. Nestor the Chronicler (2002).

Order of Merit, III (1992), II (2004) and I (2011) degrees.

Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, V degree (2006).

A matter of technology

For almost twenty years, Blokhin maintained excellent shape, denying himself all pleasures. Nikita Simonyan believes that Blokhin would have scored more goals if he had played at the forefront of attack. And when one day the great scorer told Oleg about this, he agreed and at the same time objected: “And I would impoverish my game.”

Blokhin was rightfully considered a universal forward. In 1973, he scored a goal for France from a left wing position. In the same season, he hit the goal of his Moscow teammates twice - from the zones of the left welterweight and the central striker, he shot at the Ararat goal at a very acute angle.

He demonstrated his favorite technique - a jerk, a break, a blow - especially clearly at the Munich stadium in the first meeting for the Super Cup between Bayern and the Kiev team. Then he accurately hit the far corner. The goal, which the whole of Europe saw thanks to television, was called fantastic by enthusiastic football commentators and reporters, and then, in retrospect, nothing less than textbook. So Oleg Blokhin single-handedly and easily dealt with the Bayern stars, led by the legendary, the best football player in Europe in 1972 and 1976, who received the nickname Kaiser for his outstanding style of play.

That Blokhin goal was the only one in the Munich match. And in the return game, held at the Kiev stadium, Oleg scored two more goals against the Bavarians, which turned out to be unanswered, and his team took possession of the Super Cup.

Character

It was no secret that Blokhin had a difficult character, like almost every talented person. A nice man, he experienced everything more acutely than any of his partners.

On the first day of any pre-match training camp, everyone saw Blokhin’s dissatisfied face. The coaches always knew that he would have complaints about his knee, joint, ankle, and radiculitis. Each time the Kievite was listened to attentively, and then they always said the same thing: “Well, you’re a fighter! After all, you’ll still go out onto the field and play. It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t hurt, you have to play.”. Oleg smiled broadly in response and spread his arms. All this was reminiscent of a simple children's game with long-known rules...

At the training base, immediately after his arrival, Blokhin hurried to the doctor - he was the first to arrive, the last to leave. And I started training, then playing and forgot about the sores. Nikita Simonyan calls this a characteristic of talent that finds itself in its element.

Having finished playing for Dynamo Kiev in 1987, Oleg Blokhin then played for the Austrian team Vorwärts (Steyr) for a year, after which the last match with his participation was held in Kiev - the national team of USSR veterans met with world football stars.

Trainer

Greece

Having said goodbye to the Kyiv fans, Blokhin left for Cyprus - he played for Arisa (Limassol). A year later, he finally hung up his boots and became a coach. For two and a half years he headed Olympiacos (Piraeus), which during this time, having Soviet football players Oleg Protasov, Olympic champion Yuri Savichev and Gennady Litovchenko, was twice the second prize-winner of the Greek Championship and once won the Greek Cup at the same time. Grateful Greeks once went to Kyiv to meet with local Dynamo players in connection with the 50th anniversary of their beloved coach, who, after the expiration of his contract, went to work for another Greek club for a year - PAOK (Thessaloniki). For just over two years, Blokhin coached Ionikos (Athens).

Ukraine

In September 2003, he became the head coach of the Ukrainian national team. Under his leadership, for the first time in its history, the Ukrainian national team successfully passed the qualifying stage of a major international tournament - the 2006 FIFA World Cup (World Cup) in Germany, and won a ticket to Germany before all other European teams. The Ukrainian national team, which participated in the final stages of the World Cup for the first time, reached the quarter finals - this is the highest achievement of the Ukrainians.

In early December 2007, Blokhin resigned from his post as national team coach. The statement was adopted at a meeting of the executive committee of the Football Federation of Ukraine.

Russia

A few days after his dismissal from the post of head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Blokhin became the head coach of the Moscow football club. In the 2008 Russian Championship, Moscow took 9th place. On November 26, 2008, Blokhin’s contract with Moscow was terminated by mutual consent of the parties.

In the 2009/2010 season, he was the sports director of the Chernomorets football club (Odessa).

And again Ukraine

On April 21, 2011, he was again appointed to the post of head coach of the Ukrainian national team. The TSN program on the Ukrainian TV channel 1+1, citing unnamed “own sources,” reported that Blokhin’s salary was $50,000 a month.

Participation in politics

Member of the CPSU. In the post-Soviet period, Oleg Blokhin combined coaching with socio-political activities. Twice (in 1998 and 2002) he was elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In 2001 he joined the faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine, and in 2002 he was elected as a deputy on the lists of the same party. Subsequently, he moved to the faction of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united), and in 2003 he became a member of the political council of the SDPU(o).
